Template for permission-profiles, role-template

Description

This user-type is not a real user. It only serves as a template for access privileges of other users and cannot log in to the system.

It is implemented for simplifying and speeding up the distribution of access privileges to other users. You can edit privileges of many users at once, by first defining the access privileges for the Template User and then copying the permission profile to other, real users.

Copying the permission profile to real users, transfers all settings of following views:

•Project permissions

•Workflow permissions

•Preliminary filter

•and the access privileges to the Selection list entries.

To copy the template user profiles, go to the view Permissions.

First select the user who will adopt the permission settings from the mask selection, and then choose the template user whose settings will be transferred from the operation area.

Note:

Particularly for extensive projects and for projects that contain many users with similar or identical permission profiles, we recommend the use of template users, since it considerably facilitates the configuration of the project permissions.

The application of the template user conception is only reasonable if following order is maintained:

1.Define workflow

2.Define table structure

3.Edit selection lists

4.Status change details - Define required fields

5.Identify similar user profiles (e.g. developer, tester, customer, administrator) and determine their identical permissions

6.Create a template user for each user profil

7.Assign the project permissions and the selection list access permissions to the template users.

8.Create users and copy the template profiles

9.If necessary, adjust the user permissions individually.

10.Status change details - set up the Automail function
