Description of the automatic email import

 

General information

can fetch emails from external email servers. In the standard license the emails are displayed and project members can manually copy the content into issues. Optional it is possible to generate automatically issues from the content of the emails.

 

Dependent on licence:

This feature is not part of the standard license, but it is an optional feature. To make automatic import working the licence file and the database settings have to be modified.

Configuration of the mailbox

First a mailbox must be defined in and be assigned to the project (please compare in the online help to the view edit mailbox).

Note: If a mailbox is added to more than one project, an issue will be created in every added project for every email to the mailbox.

 

Configuration table structure

In the table structure settings you can define which contents of the emails should be assigned to a field content. You can assign the following contents:

Sender

Subject

Text

CC

Date

To (receiver)

Attachments

 

Emails with attached XML files

It is possible to attach XML-files to the emails to exactly assign the columns of the CSV file to the columns of the project. You will find the description of the XML file in the following XSD file: http://www.woodpecker-it.com/xmlns/wpit-mail-import-5.4.xsd

 

Starting the import

A script on the web server processes the import. With the ASP version the script is started every 10 minutes. By an installation on your own server please contact your system administrator.

 

Importing Emails

If all settings are defined emails will be fetched from the mailbox. For every email an issue is generated and the fields are assigned.
